Words from the Founder

I couldn’t have predicted how well our 1st annual retreat weekend would go. The girls were able to attend seminars on self-esteem, healthy living and building positive relationships. They were able to relax, get massages, dance and receive henna tattoos. In addition, they learned self-defense techniques and participated in a hip-hop aerobics class. They enjoyed a comedy sketch about embracing your inner beauty that had us laughing the entire weekend. They were blessed with a great speaker who shared a wonderful and inspirational message that rung true not only with the young ladies, but the adult volunteers as well. Most of all, they were able to fellowship, create new friendships and share their life experiences as young women. We are looking forward to raising the bar for this year's retreat!

What some of the participants/volunteers had to say about last year's retreat:

"I loved when we did the Hip Hop Aerobics class! The girl talk session was very interesting, but the most fun was meeting everyone."

Marnequa, participant

"My daughter LOVED her experience with My Sister's Keeper and is looking forward to doing it again. Thank you so much for thinking of this program!"

Cheryl, parent of a participant

".....These girls showed me that is takes strength, courage and wisdom to be a teenager in today's society. I am so blessed that I was able to be a part of such a wonderful event and learn from them. There were new friendships made and new bonds formed. I think we all learned from this experience and as a result will grow from it."

Crystal, volunteer
